Troop 419 Personal Pack / Equipment
Checklist
- Tents assigned
- Backpack is adequate and properly adjusted
- Everything is secured well, with no bungee cords.
- Nothing is hanging outside of backpack
- Adequate hip belt, supporting at least 60% of pack weight
- Adequate shoulder straps
- Weight of pack does not exceed 25% of hiker's body weight
- Scout carries nothing in his hands (except walking
stick).
- Compressed sleeping bag, with adequate rain cover.
- Adequate waterproof ground cloth.
- Plastic plate, bowl, cup, knife, fork and spoon. (Cup can
be a bi-metal "Sierra Cup")
- Scouting Ten Essentials (all packed in a daypack bag).
- Pocketknife
- Extra clothing
- Flashlight
- Matches & Fire starters
- Wide mouth, plastic water bottle in pack, not on belt.
- First Aid kit
- Good rain gear (coat/parka and pants)
- Trail mix food
- Sun block
- Compass and map of area
- Appropriate insect repellent (enough quantity for trip)
- Layered clothing system
- Personal grooming kit
- 50' nylon parachute (shock) cord
- Patrol Gear (use Troop 419 Patrol Gear Inspection Sheet)
